Product Notes

Balnaves Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon is a truly superb Australian wine characterised by its rich, intense flavours. With deep, velvety hues, this full-bodied wine presents attractive notes of blackcurrant, mulberry, and French oak. Its fine, structured tannins and long, satisfying finish reflect an exceptional maturity. Subtle hints of herbaceous complexity, layered with the warmth of dark chocolate and espresso, unveil an enchanting palate. Balnaves Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon showcases an impeccable balance of fruit, acidity, and oak, which makes it an exquisite accompaniment to red meats and hard cheeses. Its bold elegance exemplifies the remarkable distinction found in the famous South Australian region's wines.

Tasting Notes

Deep rich red in colour, the nose is very perfumed with aromas of blackberry, violets, cassis and graphite combined with fine mocha-coffee notes from the use of French oak. The palate is structured and elegant with ripe cassis fruit and a fine tannin finish.

About the Winery

Balnaves

At the heart of Australia's famed Coonawarra wine region, the Balnaves family, led by Doug Balnaves, has been producing exquisite wines since 1975. Renowned for its premium reds, Balnaves Winery has, over time, meticulously cultivated 47 hectares of vineyards to create Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Chardonnay of superior quality.

The exquisite cabernet sauvignon produced by Balnaves Winery has consistently received acclaim from drinkers and critics alike validating the winery's acclaimed status. Its terroir, embedded in the unique terra rossa soil and cool maritime climate, gives its wines their distinctive character - balanced, elegant, and filled with intense fruit flavours. The Chardonnay, too, manifests a distinct character of stonefruit and citrus flavours underpinned by creative use of oak and natural fermentation.

Located in a contemporary Australian architectural structure with timber and terracotta details, the cellar door offers a stunning view over the vineyard and the ornamental lake. This idyllic setting enhances the tastebuds as one savours a sip of their traditional method sparkling wine or explores the rich notes of the deep, full-bodied The Blend. It is the perfect place for wine enthusiasts seeking a distinctive and memorable experience.

In addition, Balnaves Winery has been awarded several national and international accolades that stands as a testament to their dedication to quality. The family's ethos of maintaining environmental sustainability while producing aesthetically pleasing wines has led to a loyal fan base and gathered much-deserved recognition, among these accolades is the prestigious James Halliday’s Wine Companion Winery of the Year in 2008.

Overall, Balnaves Winery offer visitors a broad palette of experiences from wine tasting and food pairing, to vineyard tours and curated events, all set within an environment that echoes harmony between nature and architecture and truly celebrates viticulture:

Set against the picturesque backdrop of the Coonawarra region, with a glass of one of Balnaves' iconic wines in hand one can not only taste but truly feel the spirit of the vine.
