Product Notes

Descendientes de J. Palacios Villa de Corullon wine is a luxe Mencia incarnation from the Bierzo region of Spain. Garnered a formidable reputation for its full-bodied yet mellow character, it is celebrated for its deep berry notes harmonised with traces of vanilla and blossoms. The dark ruby hue is visually captivating, while its palate promises a nuanced blend of concentrated fruit and delicate spices. Aged in French oak barrels, it shows excellent complexity, while maintaining a vivacious freshness in every drop. This indulgent wine is truly an enigmatic paradox: powerfully intense yet whispering subtle elegance. Enjoy responsibly.

Tasting Notes

A fragrant nose of plums, cherries, cloves and tea leaves. It’s full-bodied with fine tannins and fresh acidity. Chalky and stony character with a spicy, peppery finish

About the Winery

Descendientes de J. Palacios

Tucked away in the beautiful Spanish region of Bierzo, Descendientes de J. Palacios is a winery that beautifully combines tradition with innovation. Founded by the eccentric José Palacios Remondo, it has soared to the upper echelons of success, capturing the hearts of wine enthusiasts from all corners of the globe.

This winery's foundation is carved from a compelling family narrative. Named as a tribute to José's father, the majestic winemaking journey of the Palacios family spans over three generations. In 1998, José joined hands with his nephew Alvaro, and together they started reinventing the traditional flavours of Bierzo.

With a keen passion for distinctive grape varieties of their native land, Descendientes de J. Palacios focuses primarily on the Mencia grapes. Using biodynamic farming methods, these resilient little grapes are cultivated in the hilly vineyards that are over a century old.

The winery’s commitment to sustainability and respect for the land echoes in every step of the winemaking process. Alvaro's meticulous touch to reinventing the ancient vineyards has undoubtedly contributed to the transformation that has redefined the boundaries of Spanish winemaking.

Of the many acclaimed wines the winery boasts, the 'Pétalos del Bierzo' stands out for being a perfect representation of the Bierzo area. It’s a wine of immense depth and complexity, with a subtle, yet charismatic personality. However, it's not just the wines they make are praised for; their exceptional service and warm hospitality have continued to enamour visitors.

Internationally acclaimed and recognised for a harmonious blend of the past and the present, Descendientes de J. Palacios tests the boundaries of winemaking. By respecting the legacy of tradition and injecting a touch of creative innovation, this winery continues to satiate the palates of discerning wine lovers around the world, making it nothing less than a Spanish wine wonder.
