About the Winery

Luddite

Established in the stunning landscape of Bot River, South Africa, Luddite Wines is a family-run winery that prides itself on embracing traditionalist wine-making values. The area's Mediterranean climate and diverse soil structure provide an ideal environment for the growth of exceptional grapes.

Named after the 19th-century British Luddites who rejected industrial machinery, the winery adheres to this philosophy by avoiding mechanisation in its production process. Instead, they use time-honoured methods such as foot stomping and hand sorting the hand-picked grapes; reflecting their reverence for crafting wines with authenticity and character.

The gem in Luddite's crown is undoubtedly their signature Shiraz which features a robust, spicy profile that pairs perfectly with hearty meals. This premium wine stands testament to the winery’s dedication to producing small lots of superior quality. Further, their Saboteur red and white blends provide an adventurous deviation from the norm celebrating the multi-dimensional quality of wine making.
