Open since 1998, Prats & Symington is a premium winery situated in the stunning Douro Valley of Portugal, an area boasting unequivocal beauty and rich wine-making traditions.
Prats & Symington is born out of a collaboration between the Symington family, renowned port producers with centuries of wine-making history in the Douro, and the esteemed Bruno Prats, former owner of Château Cos d'Estournel, known in Bordeaux. This partnership artfully blends the Bordeaux winemaking approach with Douro's unique terroir.
The winery focuses primarily on producing top-quality dry red wines using traditional Portuguese grapes. Their flagship wine, Chryseia, has amassed considerable recognition, placing Douro Valley on the map as a viable region for world-class dry reds. It's a masterful blend of Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca grapes, offering a complex nose and an elegant structure on the palate, rich with dark fruits and an enigmatic spice hint.
Similarly, Prats & Symington's Post Scriptum de Chryseia has also gained an exceptional reputation. This wine, which is often hailed as being the “second wine” after Chryseia, is lovingly crafted from the same vineyards and exhibits luxurious complexity.
