Product Notes

Spice Route Chakalaka is an exquisite South African wine crafted in the vineyards of Paarl, first produced by acclaimed winemaker, Charles Back. It's a sublime blend of six different grape varieties, each adding unique depth and flavour to the wine. With notes of spicy pepper, dark fruit, and leather, the velvety, full-bodied composition dances on the palate. Chakalaka presents a dark robust tone and offers a harmonious balance of rich earthiness and layered complexity. Perfect for pairing with barbecued meats or spicy dishes, this wine is a testament to South Africa's rich winemaking legacy.

Tasting Notes

This wine is deep ruby in colour. On the nose, aromas of clove and subtle white pepper mingle with juicy blackberry and plum fruit. Full-bodied and rich, the palate displays well-integrated oak and smooth, structured tannins. Chakalaka, a Zulu word that implies togetherness, refers to a South African blend of spices, used to add flavour to local dishes. This wine is inspired by the unique combination of flavours.
