Welcome to Issue No 5 of Taste in Cases.
This time round we feature 3 wines from trophy winning, boutique Margaret River producer Deep Woods, two wines from fashionable New Zealand winery SOHO plus a stunning Rioja Gran Reserva deal with the estimable Vina Real.
Deep Woods is a relatively new Margaret River winery, and certainly new to the UK market. It’s a winery to watch – with wines to BUY and DRINK ( that’s our buy command!). Amazingly, this winery won both of Australia’s most prestigious wine trophies in 2016: the Jimmy Watson Trophy and the Max Schubert Trophy. Sadly the winning wine – the 2014 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon – sold out in Australia. But all the wines have the winning touch of young winemaker Julian Langworthy, nominated recently for Australian Winemaker of the Year, awarded Best Winemaker in Show award at the 2016 Royal Adelaide Wine Show and the winner of 4 trophies and 50 Gold Medals in his 4 vintages to date. The entry level wines featured here are a revelation
