Product Notes

Raúl Pérez La del Vivo La Vizcaina de Vinos is a stunning Spanish wine, specifically crafted in the region of Bierzo. With an enticing complexity on the palate, it seamlessly marries floral notes with luscious undertones of apple and citrus fruits. A close consideration of this wine reveals a subtler taste of minerals, acting as a nod to the exceptional terroir it originates from. It is exceptionally balanced, elegant, and robust, offering a consistently satisfying finish. This wine is a testament to the skill of winemaker Raúl Pérez, embodying his commitment to making remarkable wines that are expressive of their origin.

Tasting Notes

The 2019 is a bright, lifted and aromatic La del Vivo, riper and more expressive than the stricter 2018 but with more subtlety and floral nuance than the more exuberant 2017 and 2015 vintages. White honey, jasmine and clear green tea notes lend a heady and elegant feel to the wine, with depth supplied by a trace of pineapple, red apples and stone fruits on the finish. Blossomy but with a fresh stoniness and wispy smoke note too

About the Winery

Raúl Pérez

Raúl Pérez is not just a name; it's a brand that resonates with epicurean pleasure. Tucked away in Valtuille de Abajo, in the Bierzo region of Northwest Spain, it yields well-renowned wines of character, nurtured by the man himself, Raúl Pérez.

Emerging as a pivotal name in the world of viticulture, Raúl Pérez is a winemaker who believes in letting nature speak for itself. Known for his minimalist approach, he favours organic techniques and handpicking over machine harvesting, ensuring each grape is perfect in ripeness.

The winery is a majestic mingling of modern design and traditional Spanish architecture. The encircling vineyards are composed of largely Mencia and Godello grapes, though there are a few other varieties. Planted mostly in low fertile soil, this aids the plants to produce an intense variety of grape, full of richness and unblemished taste.

The Pérez wines are famed for their palpable individuality and ingrained authenticity. Each bottle exudes an element of raw beauty, reflecting the unique terroir of the vineyards from which they hail. Known for his deft touch and intuition, Pérez has a knack for coaxing the very best flavours out of the grape varieties he oversees.

Every vinous creation that comes from Raúl Pérez’s winery exudes a complexity and finesse that has elevated him to the stratospheres of the wine world. For anyone with a deep interest in wine, this winery's fascinating techniques and philosophies are well worth investigating. Not only would the wines themselves leave an undeniable imprint on your palette, the man behind the scenes is arguably just as intriguing, if not more so!

Experience Raúl Pérez winery for “a wine tour extraordinaire” and a candid introduction to regal Spanish wines. This celebrated winery is an essential visit for anyone who has a deep interest in, not just excellent wine, but the grounds from which it originates.
