Product Notes

Joseph Drouhin Gevrey-Chambertin is a vibrant, elegant red wine from the famed Burgundy region in France. Broad, refinement showcases flavours of rich ripe cherries, with a nuanced, delightful undercurrent of earthy notes. Subtle hints of spice and chewy tannins augment its complexity, whilst a sustained finish points to its ageing potential. This superb Pinot Noir, with its lively ruby-red colour, is emblematic of Drouhin's acknowledged craftsmanship. A shining example of the winery's dedication to expressing the complex terroir of Gevrey-Chambertin, it’s truly an exquisite choice for an intimate dinner or a grand celebration. This wine imparts a sensory delight, promising an unmatched tasting experience.

Tasting Notes

Gevrey-Chambertin is a wine with a beautiful, bright ruby colour. Intensely fruity on the nose, the aromas are reminiscent of black cherry, wild blackberry and liquorice. The woody character is subtle and marries delicately with the other aromas. As the wine evolves, there are more complex notes, such as mild spice, nutmeg and leather. Later still, mushroom and damp earth nuances make their appearance. Although present on the palate, tannin is never astringent but blends itself harmoniously with the natural freshness and "gras" (velvety texture) of the wine. The same aromas encountered earlier on the nose are found again in the aftertast
