Product Notes

The Rocca di Montegrossi Geremia Wine is an exquisite Italian red vintage, brimming with abundant flavours of red fruits, black cherry, and plush undertones of sweet spices. This Tuscan wine is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, aged impeccably in French oak barrels for a period of 18 months, resulting in a taste that is exceptionally sophisticated and layered. With hints of earthiness and a lingering finish, each sip reveals a harmonious blend of textures, highlighting the fine craftsmanship of Rocca di Montegrossi's winemaking. It is the epitome of luxury, remarkable in quality and appeal.

Tasting Notes

It is a powerful, intense wine that also displays elegance and balance, bringing out the character of the terroir. Intense ruby, with violet nail, and with complex aromas that bring to mind sour cherries, currantsand other wild berry fruit, mingled with licorice and vanilla. A wine of great structure and complexity, which is soft and velvety, thanks to its richness and the perfect ripeness of the tannins

About the Winery

Rocca di Montegrossi

Perched amidst the breath-taking landscapes of Chianti, Tuscany, nestles the reputable Rocca di Montegrossi winery. The estate, owned by the Martini family, has a venerable history dating back to the 7th century AD. It's located near the delightful hamlet of Monti in Chianti, a scenic location steeped in history and exuding a rustic, charming essence.

Rocca di Montegrossi's vineyards stretch over 20 hectares of sun-kissed undulating terrain, which are caressed by breezes that form a microclimate optimal for wine production. The vineyards predominantly cater to Sangiovese, Canaiolo, and Colorino, also offering a small section dedicated to Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

A staunch believer in organic and sustainable farming, Rocca di Montegrossi refrains from using synthetic chemicals in its vineyards. Instead, they utilise manual interventions, maintaining healthy and vibrant vineyards. The colour, aroma and taste of their wines bear testament to this meticulous cultivation.

When it comes to the wine's production, traditional methods blend harmoniously with modern techniques. Vat fermentation with indigenous yeasts combines with temperature-controlled processes to extract maximum flavour and complexity; the result a set of exquisite wines that reflect the true essence of their terroir. With an annual production of around 80,000 bottles, the winery is not one of Italy’s biggest but it does produce wines of incredible quality.

Rocca di Montegrossi's most renowned creation is the Chianti Classico. It is a blend mainly made from Sangiovese, interspersed with Canaiolo and a hint of Colorino. It's affirms the winery's standing, having received both national and international acclaim, with several editions obtaining over 90 points in Italian and international guides.

Visiting the winery is immensely rewarding. It offers guided tastings, cellar tours, and the opportunity to soak in the picturesque Tuscan scenery. The Rocca di Montegrossi experience is accentuated by the region's exquisite cuisine, the warmth of the Martini family and of course, the winery's remarkable wines. It's a must-visit destination for wine enthusiasts, catered exquisitely by one of Tuscany's finest wine establishments.
