Product Notes

Valdivieso Caballo Loco Blanco No.1 is an exquisite Chilean white wine, perfect for cultured palates seeking tranquillity in each sip. Consisting of Rhone varietals such as Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, Roussanne, Viognier, the vino boasts nuanced notes of stone fruits, honey, and savoury spices. A medium-bodied wine, it has an elegant balance of acidity and alcohol, thus, creating a rich and smooth finish. This wine sets a high benchmark with its strong character and singular taste, making it a remarkable masterpiece from the legendary Valdivieso winery. This is an astute choice for discerning wine connoisseurs and enthusiasts.

Tasting Notes

Chardonnay from Limari with its unique salinity and soft acidity from the high calcium content soils, is the backbone of this wine. Itatas coastal hillside vineyards of Moscatel de Alejandria with unique tannic structure. Early harvested Pinot Noir from the southern area of Mulchen, adding verticality and length. Viognier from Sagrada Familia in the Curico Valley, giving a further layer of flavour. Pinot Gris from Casablanca adding textural complexity. Finally old vine Semillon from the Curico Valley, in the base of the foothills going up to the Andes Mountain, which is probably Chile's most underappreciated variety, giving waxy overtones.

About the Winery

Valdivieso

Valdivieso Winery is one of Chile's oldest and most significant wineries, with a noteworthy legacy that spans more than 130 years. Nestled in the heart of Chile's renowned wine region, this iconic winery is named after its founder, Don Alberto Valdivieso, who started the venture in 1879.

Its inception marked the first production of sparkling wine in Chile and South America. Don Alberto Valdivieso, impressed by the quality of wines produced in France, was keen to introduce similar quality to his homeland. The Winery thus began its journey as Champagne Valdivieso, and till today, clings to its root generousously producing sparkling wine, renowned and enjoyed worldwide!

However, it's not just sparkling wines for which Valdivieso is celebrated. The last four decades have witnessed the winery's expansion into the production of still wines. Valdivieso's dedication to quality and innovation shines through its collection of elegant and diverse wines. From the lush, full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon to the crisp and refreshing Sauvignon Blanc, every bottle captures the unique terroir and character of Chile’s vineyards.

True to its ethos, Valdivieso Winery is continuously pushing boundaries by seeking new territories for vine cultivation. From the footsteps of the Andes to the coastal regions, the winery sources from the most premium vineyards across the country. This geographical diversity allows it to create wines with a distinctive and rich flavour profile.

More so, visitors to the Valdivieso Winery are always treated to a hearty wine-tasting experience and a tour across the estate that's founded on a blend of tradition and pioneering spirit. Such ethos turns every visit into a memory to cherish.

Through it's exceptional agricultural offering, Valdivieso Winery showcases the true charm of Chilean wine to the global platform; a feat that, coupled with it's commitment to authenticity and quality, ensures its esteemed position among the country's top wine producers.
