Product Notes

Momento Mori's Bag of Bones Piquette is a nuanced wine uttering a symphony of flavours. Handcrafted in small quantities in Victoria, Australia, this organic and biodynamic magnum delivers an unexpectedly delightful symphony of citrus notes, underpinned by a distinct mineral edge. Its vibrant aroma of wildflowers and elderflower conjures a dreamy summer's day. Bag of Bones Piquette is refreshingly low in alcohol, but high in personality. Best served chilled alongside good company, it's a wine that challenges tradition, playing with the boundaries of what piquette can and should be. An audacious spectacle of winemaking craftsmanship.

Tasting Notes

We included a fair proportion of whole bunches into ours and as most of our fruit is pressed very lightly anyway and so has a lot left to give. It has resulted in quite a “full’ and reasonably (by Piquette standards) complex drink that does not lack any interest. It sits at about 5.7 % Alcohol so has enough substance to stand tall with Pet-Nats while still being very refreshing because of the low alcohol – Momento Mori

About the Winery

Momento Mori

Situated in the picturesque Macedon Ranges, Australia, Momento Mori winery is an abode of distinctive, elegant wines. This quaint winery is highly acclaimed for its minimal intervention wines, boasting the authentic taste of its terroir. The founders, Dane Johns and Hannah Green, have diligently upheld the ethos of producing non-traditional, yet classic, high-quality wines since Momento Mori's inception in 2013.

At this winery, every bottle tells its own story, reflecting the winemakers’ hard work and their uncompromised passion for wine. The dynamic duo of Dane and Hannah continuously experiments with various winemaking techniques, skilfully striking the perfect balance between innovation and tradition. From the supremely popular Fiano, made from Sicilian white grapes, to the unique expression of Staring at the Sun, fashioned from an intriguing blend of Moscato Giallo and Fiano, every wine is a testament to Momento Mori’s commitment to finesse.

Momento Mori’s vineyards are nurtured with organic and biodynamic practices, resonating with their ethos of letting nature take its course. The winery shuns any form of additives, believing them to dilute the wine’s inherent character. With a keen focus on sustainability the winery ensures a seamless harmony between the land and their vinification process.

However, what truly sets Momento Mori apart is their dedication to producing 'vins de soif', wines meant to be enjoyed in the moment. Living up to the Latin meaning of its name, which translates to 'remember, you must die,' the winery encourages a philosophy of savouring life and every sip of wine.

At the heart Momento Mori, you will find a symbiotic narrative of nature, craftsmanship! and the pure joy of wine, making it an unforgettable experience for all oenophiles out there.
