Designer of this distinctively serene winery is Kevin Grant, a highly respected and accomplished viticulturist in his own right. He fell in love with the beauty of this valley and the exceptional potential it held for producing wines of profound character. Sparing no detail to ensure the maximum expression of the unique terroirs under his stewardship, Kevin set about handcrafting a limited quantity of top-quality wines under the Ataraxia label.

The setting is undoubtedly one of the most enchanting in the Cape with its sweeping vistas over the voluptuous valley and calming ocean views. Ataraxia though is not just about the pleasing aesthetics, the name itself, deriving from a Greek term meaning 'a serene state of mind, free from worry and preoccupation' reflects the ethos and values held dear by those managing the winery.

One of the keystones of Ataraxis ethos is dedication to sustainability. Full membership of the Biodiversity Wine Initiative demonstrates a committed approach to conservation. The vineyards occupy only a fraction of the land, with the lion’s share dedicated to preserving the native fynbos vegetation.
