Bonny Doon opened its doors in 1983 in Santa Cruz, California. The founder, Randall Grahm, is a pioneer in the wine realm. He is well known for his experimentation and innovation in viticulture, quickly earning the nickname "The Rhone Ranger". It was under Grahm’s visionary leadership, Bonny Doon garnered global recognition.

The vineyard’s chief aim is to break the shackles of traditional winemaking and to experiment with different varieties of vines. This has resulted in a wide array of beautifully handcrafted wines with distinct character, including fan favourites such as “Le Cigare Volant” and “Vin Gris de Cigare”.
