Product Notes

Château Bélair-Monange Saint-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé is a prestigious Bordeaux wine known for its exceptional quality. This boutique vineyard located in Saint-Émilion, France delivers a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Its flamboyant bouquet bursts with ripe blackberries and wild cherries, with subtle oak and mineral notes. The palate offers a dense, opulent texture accentuated by silky tannins, making each sip a rich and harmonious experience. Its impressive ageing potential renders it even more desirable. Château Bélair-Monange's wines are a testament to the impeccable craftsmanship and age-old winemaking traditions of the region. Classic and simply delectable.

Tasting Notes

Complex and engaging, aromas of wild cherries, tayberry and açaí are interspersed with deep mulberry and mineral notes of crushed crocks and graphite. The palate is awash with glorious fruit: plums, raspberries and cranberries. This is delicate and detailed yet there is tremendous power and complexity. Layer after layer of fruit reveals itself in a real peacock's tail of fruit covering the lacy tannins. Vibrant, long and a delight to the senses!

About the Winery

Château Bélair-Monange

Nestled in the verdant heart of Bordeaux, France, Château Bélair-Monange ranks among the finest and most distinguished wineries in the region. This historic vineyard, previously known as Château Belair, merged with neighbouring Château Magdelaine in 2012, resulting in the formation of the new estate christened Château Bélair-Monange.

The vineyard's location atop a southern hillside at the crest of Saint Emilion holds significant importance. This privileged position, exploiting the limestone bedrock beneath, is key in the production of their illustrious wines. The limestone imparts a distinct minerality to the wines which undoubtedly enhances their complexity.

Château Bélair-Monange is unique in its exquisite combination of tradition and innovation. In the vineyard, they prioritise traditional methods such as horse ploughing and manual harvesting. However, the state-of-the-art, gravity-fed winery constructed in 2014 highlights their innovative spirit. Bélair-Monange wines are a perfect representation of their terroir, beautifully marrying concentration with finesse; they possess a vibrant freshness, depth of flavour, and an impressive ageing potential.

The property spans 23.5 hectares, primarily planted with Merlot (90%) alongside a small plot of Cabernet Franc (10%). Unsurprisingly, Merlot dominates the vineyard’s annual production. The estate’s second wine, named Annonce de Bélair-Monange, similarly oozes with quality, yet retains an approachability that encourages early drinking.

Undeniably, the story of Château Bélair-Monange is one of revitalisation and prestigious renaissance. Today, the estate stands as testament to the incomparable expertise dedications and passion of the Moueix family. Known for producing wines of exceptional elegance and longevity.
