The wine leaves you with a breath-taking finish, persisting of rich fruit nuances and delicate minerality. Eminently age-worthy, it is a sublime addition to any wine collection.

Tasting Notes

Deep garnet-purple in color, the wine charges out of the gate with bold expressions of preserved plums, blueberry compote and redcurrant jelly plus nuances of pencil shavings, forest floor and truffles. Medium-bodied, the palate delivers elegantly played black fruits and earthy accents with a lovely frame of fine-grained tannins and seamless freshness, finishing with a quiet intensity

About the Winery

Château Certan De May

Nestled in the revered French region of Pomerol, Bordeaux, is the Château Certan De May winery. Reputed for its remarkable Merlot wines and gaining its name from a Scottish family who once ran it, this esteemed vineyard graces the eastern plateau of Pomerol.

Sprawling over five hectares of predominantly Merlot vinelets, the vineyard also boasts some Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. The château's location partners with the area's complex soil comprising of sand, gravel, clay, and iron residues–a combination that is influential in sculpting their distinctive wines.

The château’s wines are of undeniably high calibre, with a substantial aging potential and the enticing aroma of blackcurrants and truffle. Coupled with a well-rounded structure and powerful, concentrated, dark fruit flavours, these exquisite traits make Château Certan De May’s wines unmistakably outstanding.

In the winemaking process, the château employs traditional techniques where the grapes are hand-harvested and fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled, wooden vats. The wines are then aged in a proportion of new oak barrels, typically for a period of 16 to 18 month's. Here, Château Certan De May's meticulous attention to winemaking detail is demonstrated, as the oak ageing adds both structure and added flavours of spice to their wines.

Château Certan De May is a winery well-respected not only in Bordeaux and France, but also by wine lovers and connoisseurs around the world. The château’s illustrious combination of exceptional terroirs, traditional winemaking techniques, and fervour to create unique, high-quality wines make Château Certan De May a true beacon of the Pomerol appellation. Regarded as an icon in the winemaking industry; its wines continue to impress, enthral and captivate with their high regard for tradition and quality.
