Product Notes

Chateau Latour-Martillac Blanc is a sublime white wine hailing from Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux. This blend offers remarkable complexity, interplaying exquisite aromas of citrus, white peach, vanilla and well-integrated oak. Delighting the palate, it harmoniously combines refreshing acidity, silky texture and lingering mineral finish. This well-rounded wine is dominated by Sauvignon Blanc with a generous dash of Sémillon, manifesting in its vibrant intensity and rich, creamy depth. Perfectly paired with poultry or seafood dishes, Latour-Martillac Blanc is a wine worth cherishing, epitomising the craftsmanship, continuity and precision of the legendary Bordeaux winemaking.

Tasting Notes

The 2016 Latour-Martillac is pale yellow color with sparkling highlights and has complex aromas of both floral (verbena, honeysuckle) and some exotic fruits (passion fruit) and lemon. The palate is beautifully fresh and is balanced by a delicious creaminess. In the mouth, there is elegance with the same complex, fruity aromas of white peach and ripe apricots as well as the floral note of verbena and fresh mint. This wine is remarkably long length on the finish. This is good for drinking over the next 8-10 years and is a blend of 60% Sauvignon Blanc, 40% Semillon.

About the Winery

Chateau Latour-Martillac

Nestled within the idyllic landscape of the French Bordeaux region, the Château Latour-Martillac Winery boasts a rich historical past alongside an esteemed legacy of winemaking. Named after the tower gracing the courtyard of this majestic property, the 'Martillac' signifier pays homage to the place's vibrant monastic history during the Middle Ages.

The Kressmann family, key players in the Bordeaux vineyard scene since 1871, became the owners of Château Latour-Martillac in 1929. Under their careful stewardship, the vineyard has flourished, delivering consistently excellent wines that embody the earthy richness of their terroir.

Sprawling across around 45 hectares, the vineyard's primarily gravel soil generously furnishes the ideal growing conditions for the classic Bordeaux blends of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. The wine embodies a delightful balance of power, elegance and richness, which has gained the Château Latour-Martillac a loyal international following.

Not to be outdone by their illustrious reds, the winery also produces superb white wines, the first of which dates back to 1928. These white wines, comprised of the Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and Muscadelle varietals, are known for their alluring complexity and exquisite balance.

Over time, the viticultural and winemaking techniques at Château Latour-Martillac have been meticulously honed, creating a harmonious marriage of traditional wisdom and modern innovation. Here, manual harvests are undertaken with scrupulous attention to detail, ensuring only the finest grapes contribute to their noted wines.

Beyond the bottles, the winery offers visitors an immersive experience exploring the vineyards, the vast scenery and the historic château itself. Privileged guests may indulge in a guided tour featuring tastings of their elegant libations and private event functions. Above all, a visit to Chateau Latour-Martillac is about more than wine it’s a portal through which one might step into another era, enveloped by the aura of history and sophistication. To visit is to become part of the Chateau's ongoing story, a tale of history, artistry, and above all, exceptional winemaking.
