Product Notes

Bodegas Valdemar Conde Valdemar Rioja Gran Reserva is a delightful Spanish wine embodying rich tradition. This classical Rioja carries a harmonious blend of Tempranillo and Graciano grapes, aged for 25 months in French and American oak barrels. Expect a deep ruby-red hue with a nose filled with distinct vanilla and toasty aromas, complemented by ripe red fruit nuances. The palate extends beautiful structure with velvety tannins and a lingering, complex finish. A wine of elegance and depth, ideal to accompany a fine meal or to be savoured alone. An ode to the elevated mastery of winemaking in the famed Rioja region.

Tasting Notes

This wine displays an attractive and intense red ruby colour, clean and bright. Intense and complex aromas of concentrated black fruit. Hints of coffee, black liquorice, truffle and balsamic notes of eucalyptus. Elegant, smooth, tasty, with a strong personality and a very long aftertaste.

About the Winery

Bodegas Valdemar

Nestled in the welcoming heart of the Rioja Alavesa, the Bodegas Valdemar winery is a family-owned gem, offering a unique blend of tradition and innovation, that dates back over 130 years. Founded in 1889, this elegant Spanish wine powerhouse combines tasteful craftsmanship with a forward-thinking approach that continues to push boundaries today.

An acclaimed trailblazer, Bodegas Valdemar is responsible for stirring the very foundations of modern winemaking in Spain; their pioneering techniques have garnered the winery well-deserved recognition in various corners of the globe. The bodega, a beacon of modernity in the largely traditional Rioja region, leads the way by returning to natural methods, cultivating vines without chemical intervention, consequently preserving the authenticity of their wine.

The estate itself is a vision of beauty, stretching over 275 hectares of vineyards that mirror the rich diversity found in the Spanish terrain. The lush vineyards produce an array of wine grapes, including Tempranillo, Garnacha, and Viura, each contributing to the characteristic richness of Valdemar's blend.

Within the walls of the Bodegas lives an exquisite array of wines, each crafted with an impressive attention to detail. Their collection ranges from the balanced and fruity flavours of their entry-level 'Conde Valdemar' wines, to the full-bodied and complex blends found in their premium 'Inspiracion Valdemar' and icon ‘Conde Valdemar Gran Reserva’ lines. Each bottle encapsulates the philosophy of Bodegas Valdemar, a philosophy of constant improvement and respect for their ancestors’ traditions and dedication to their land.

Perhaps the most notable Anglo-Spanish joint venture is their establishment of a winery in Washington State, USA. An unprecedented move for Spanish vineyards, cementing Valdemar as an unignorable key player in the international wine scene.
