Product Notes

Cockburn's LBV wine is an exquisite and flavourful drink originating from Portugal's warm vineyards. It's a Late Bottled Vintage (LBV) Port, boasting a luxurious, full-bodied taste. This robust wine drips with rich notes of ripe, red fruit and elegant undertones of spicy blackberries. Its alluring aroma is centred around lovely hints of vanilla and violets. The velvety texture, superb richness, and well-integrated, smooth tannins contribute to an exceptional finish. This indulgence pairs beautifully with blue cheeses or delectable dark chocolate. Favourably, the LBV style does not require decanting, bringing the splendour of vintage port at a moment's notice.

Tasting Notes

Intense crimson centre with a bright, garnet rim. The sizeable contribution made by Touriga Nacional in this vintage is mirrored in the floral aromas which are typical of this variety. Red fruits, ranging from raspberry and strawberry to red cherry are evident on the palate, a signature feature of the Canais vineyard, which provided an important component for this LBV. The Touriga Franca and Sousão from both Canais and Vale Coelho buttress the structure and underpin the balance of this excellent 2014 Cockburn’s Late Bottled Vintage Port

About the Winery

Cockburn's

Cockburn's Winery is one of the most prestigious and renowned wineries to exist in the heart of Portugal's Duoro Valley. This iconic winery has a rich history that spans over two centuries. It was first established in 1815 by Robert and John Cockburn, who were keenly interested in producing high-quality fortified wines.

The Cockburn cellars, located in Vila Nova de Gaia, paint a classic image of Portuguese architecture. This setting offers visitors an opportunity to see, first hand, the sheer dedication and craftsmanship involved in making the traditional Port wine. A thorough visit around the estate will reveal a remarkable collection of vintages, some of which date back to the 19th century.

One can’t discuss Cockburn's Winery without mentioning their illustrious range of Port wines. These include the Vintage, Reserve and Tawny Ports, each with its unique set of the flavour profile. They have been well-regarded internationally by critics and connoisseurs alike for their sophisticated taste and excellent quality. These wines are not just drinks, but a fine representation of the art of winemaking

Over the years, there have been numerous changes in Cockburn’s ownership. However, the Cockburn’s commitment to preserving their tradition and legacy has never wavered. Today, the Symington family, known for their deep roots in the Port wine industry are proud custodians of Cockburn's tradition and heritage.

Cockburn's Winery also believes in sustainable viticulture practices. They strive to minimise their environmental impact coupled with the preservation of their beautiful surroundings

It is beyond doubt that a visit to Cockburn’s Winery will be an unforgettable experience, as you will be immersing yourself in more than 200 years of winemaking history. We highly recommend you uncork a bottle of Cockburn’s and experience the rich heritage for yourself. As they say OPrtuguese tradition is presented at its finest in each sip.
