Tasting Note

A bright, rich ruby color with intense purplish highlights. The aroma is enveloping, aromatic and deep with noticeable spices on first impression and raspberry, strawberry and ripe cherry notes in background. Finish with pleasant harmonies of wild flowers. On the palate it is well structured, fresh and the acidity is excellently balanced, the tannins texture is embracing and flavors remind you of sour cherries, blackberries and prunes

Product Notes

Elvio Cogno Barbera d'Alba Pre-Phylloxera is a profound Italian red wine, from centenarian vines untouched by phylloxera. Its deeply hued ruby red colour promises an intense, sophisticated journey. Brimming with robust aromas of dark fruits, spices, and earthy undertones, it provides an opulent, full-bodied taste experience. It unfolds layers of plum, black cherry, and sweet vanilla, leading to a bold, commanding finish. This wine, beautifully balanced with vibrant acidity and velvety tannins, is an exceptional rendition of Barbera from the Piedmont region, best exemplifying Elvio Cogno's commitment to preserving historical vineyards. It is indeed a superb companion for hearty dishes and mature cheeses.
