Product Notes

Pago de Carraovejas Ribera del Duero is a majestic Spanish wine originating from the illustrious Castilla y León region. This sumptuous blend, largely Tempranillo, reveals an expressive nose of ripe black fruits, hints of spice, cocoa, and smoky undertones. Its profound richness on the palate is balanced brilliantly with graceful acidity and polished tannins. Every sip exposes layers of complexity, concluding with a long, robust finish. This excellent, powerful red exhibits its premium quality through ageing in French and American oak barrels. Pago de Carraovejas Ribera del Duero, beyond doubt, personifies a high calibre wine that invigorates the senses.

About the Winery

Pago de Carraovejas

Founded in 1988, Pago de Carraovejas winery is a pioneering vineyard located in Peñafiel, in the heart of Ribera del Duero, Spain. This insightful endeavour came into existence under the proprietorship of renowned restaurateur, José María Ruiz, whose illustrious vision for creating an exclusive Ribera del Duero wine led to the birth of Pago de Carraovejas.

Beginning with just 25 hectares of hand-picked Tempranillo grapes, this visionary endeavour has grown significantly over the decades, yet it has remained true to its commitment to its traditional Spanish wine-making roots. Situated on the sunny slopes of the Duero Valley, the winery, apart from the temperamental Tempranillo, now also produces excellent specimens of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

Pago de Carraovejas has not only traversed significant milestones in its journey, but also represents a symbol of innovation and tradition in the Spanish wine landscape. José María Ruiz’s drive, continues to guide the winery’s endeavours, committing to sustainable viticulture practices and a relentless pursuit of quality.

Spain’s oenological jewel, Pago de Carraovejas, embodies passion, tradition technology- an irresistible concoction for any wine lover. The journey spearheaded by José María, and his distinct vision will forever be etched in the grand Spanish wine narrative.
