Product Notes

Pheasant's Tears Goruli Mtsvane is a resplendent natural wine, proudly hailing from the fruitful soils of Georgia. Its heritage lies discreetly in the ancient Goruli Mtsvane grape variety, offering a profound spectrum of unique flavours. This wine entices with a sublime, slightly hazy, golden colour. An aromatic bouquet of green apple, lime and sea salt fills the nostrils upon the first passing, gracefully evolving into hints of roses and crisp pear. On the palate, the wine gives a tart, dry experience, intensified by the invigorating sensation of walnut and unbaked bread. This wine is an authentic testament to traditional Georgian winemaking.

Tasting Notes

Floral, lime and subtle honeyed notes, crisp, fresh palate exhibiting crystallised fruit flavours and delicate crunch of tannins and white spice.

About the Winery

Pheasant's Tears

Established in 2007, Pheasant's Tears is a boutique winery nestled in the foothills of the Caucasus Mountains, a region famed for its wine-making traditions. Situated in Sighnaghi, one of Georgia's most picturesque towns, the winery showcases the best of Kakheti's unspoiled wine-making heritage.

The winery's primary mission is to revive the country's unique varietals and age-old wine-making techniques. It is a labour of love and passion guided by wine connoisseur, John Wurdeman and esteemed Georgian winemaker, Gela Patalishvili creating a harmony of Georgian tradition and innovative artistry. Call it a blend of the old world and the new, resulting in an extraordinary array of high-quality, organic wines.

At the core of Pheasant's Tears' wine-making process is the ancient Georgian method of fermenting and ageing in clay pots, known as 'qvevri'. Each bottle is made entirely naturally, without any additives or manipulations. One of the standout features is the exclusive usage of native Georgian grape varieties, some of which are on the brink of extinction. This commitment to biodiversity and preservation ensures each wine produced exhibits the unique character and rich complexity of Georgia's esteemed wine-making tradition.

Visitors to Pheasant’s Tears are treated not only to an immersive wine-tasting experience, but also to the evolving tastes of a homestyle Georgian feast created with locally grown, seasonal produce: ensuring an authentic cultural and gastronomic indulgence.
