Product Notes

Weingut Sepp & Maria Muster Erde is a beguiling Austrian wine made from hand-picked, biodynamically grown grapes. This rich and earthy wine exhibits a delicate marriage of fruitiness and minerality, with subtle citrus undertones. Its vibrant acidity is balanced by a creamy texture that coats the palate, reminiscent of the unique strokes of an artisan. Muster Erde is biodynamically crafted in Styria, reflecting the region's cool climate and diverse soil types. The result is a sippable symphony, carrying the whispering stories of the vineyard, and the passion of the winemakers, in each bottle. It's truly a captivating organic wine.

Tasting Notes

Much like a red wine with tannin and tension, this orange wine has notes of cider, dried lemon and savoury herbs. Aptly named "Erde" meaning earth this wine is eccentric but ideally suited for those fans of orange wines and extremely tannic white wines.

About the Winery

Weingut Sepp & Maria Muster

Nestled in the heart of picturesque Southern Styria, Weingut Sepp & Maria Muster is an ethereal spectacle of authentic Austrian winemaking existing in harmony with nature. Established more than four decades ago by the visionary couple, Sepp & Maria, the winery effortlessly reflects their commitment to sustainably nurturing the fertile soil and adhering to biodynamic practices.

Every aspect of the winery reverberates with a naturalistic philosophy that defines the Musters. Famed for their innovative approach paired with traditional knowledge, they took the leap towards biodynamic winemaking in the late 90s. This significant transition has remarkably enhanced the authenticity and character of the wines encapsulating the terroir's essence at its purest.

The nearly 10-hectare vineyard flourishes on iron-rich soil, or 'Opok,' as locally known. Curiously, the 'Opok' imparts notable minerality and vividly earthy nuances to the wines, setting them apart in the sophisticated sphere of Austrian wine.

The Muster's offer an exceptional kaleidoscope of wines, including mouth-watering Sauvignon Blanc, immersive, evocative, and long-life Chardonnay, and Welschriesling—a real beauty full of finesse, to name but a few. Further, they are well-remembranced for their iconic 'Erde,' which spectacularly expresses the mineral richness of Opok soil in an astonishingly tangible way.Magnificently unconstrained by any textbook methods, every wine is a contemplative art-piece mirrored by the meticulous care and innate understanding of the winemakers.

At Weingut Sepp & Maria Muster, tradition and innovation blend seamlessly, yielding wines that sing both of the gentle Austrian countryside and its stout-hearted earth – an absolute must-visit for any wine enthusiast. The family ethos of honouring the land in every aspect of their craft creates an experience that resonates far beyond the last sip; it's a dazzling exposition of biodynamic wine that hums with life long after the bottle is emptied.
