Product Notes

Botijo Rojo from Bodegas Frontonio is an evocative red wine from the Valdejalón region of Spain. This Grenache based wine is expertly crafted, boasting remarkable elegance and balance. It reveals delightful notes of cherries, redcurrants and a hint of spice, enveloped in subtle earthy undertones. Benefitting from minimal intervention wine-making, Botijo Rojo maintains a gorgeously pure expression of terroir. On the palate, it is wonderfully fresh and lively, brimming with vibrant acidity and supple tannins. A charming rusticity underpins this wine, making it a superb partner to hearty dishes. Bodegas Frontonio indeed delivers a humble yet exquisite taste of Spanish viticulture.

About the Winery

Bodegas Frontonio

Founded in 2008 by childhood friends Fernando Mora, Mario Lopez, and Francisco Latasa, Bodegas Frontonio has become renowned in the wine world for producing exquisite vintages and is currently co-owned by the three. The winery is located in Épila, a small township adorning the beautiful Iberian Peninsula.

Bodegas Frontonio originally started as a humble weekend project in a garage; Mora, Lopez and Latasa delved into their winemaking venture merely crafting 14 barrels of Grenache wine with love and sheer dedication. Now, however, their operation has massively expanded and acquired international acclaim, without sacrificing on their core philosophy of producing high-quality, hand-crafted wines. In 2019, their talented owner Mora was also recognised as a Master of Wine, enhancing the reputation of the winery globally.

The name “Frontonio” is inspired from the legend of Saint Frontonio, of whom it is said, his severed head was thrown into the River Ebro yet was mysteriously found upstream. In a symbolic nod to this tale, the team at Bodega Frontonio too believe in pushing against the current [ and striving for the unattainable. In all its endeavours, the winery remains humble, dedicated and passionate, consistently delighting wine enthusiasts globally.
