Product Notes

Passopisciaro Passobianco Terre Siciliane is an exceptional white wine that hails from the sun-soaked shores of Sicily, Italy. It boasts a unique blend of Chardonnay grapes, allowing for a harmonious balance of fresh acidity and fruit-forward palate. This wine presents charming flavours of yellow plum and lemon zest with a whisper of vanilla, delicately wrapped up in a mineral edge. Its subtle oak maturation lends a layer of complexity, enhancing its body and depth. Passopisciaro Passobianco offers a refreshing, clean finish that mesmerises the senses, making it a delightful choice for sipping on a warm summer's day or paired with light, savoury dishes.

Tasting Notes

Straw yellow. Concentrated, deep and alluring white- and citrus-fruit nose with hints of kumquat and papaya. Orange and lemon palate with bitter-almond notes on the finish. Long and a little linear and with plenty of substance.

About the Winery

Passopisciaro

Just nestled on the slopes of one of the world's most active volcanoes, Mount Etna, lies the fascinating Passopisciaro winery. Undoubtedly, this winery’s idyllic location contributes to its unquestionable status as an essential destination for any discerning wine enthusiast.

The winery was established in 2000 by Andrea Franchetti, who had the foresight to recognise Etna's viticultural potential. Franchetti's bold decision has since paid dividends: Passopisciaro now boasts five impressive vineyards, each of which awards it an extraordinary terroir diversity.

Although Passopisciaro champions the revival of Etna's indigenous grape varieties, its viticultural practice is anything but insular. The winery embraces a cosmopolitan approach to winemaking. Native varieties are nurtured alongside international stars such as Chardonnay and Petit Verdot, creating a wine portfolio that sings in multiple dialects.

The wines of Passopisciaro are made using a harmonious blend of ancient and modern techniques. Combining the wisdom of millennia-old indigenous methods with the precision of cutting-edge technology, the winery creates wines that are deeply reflective of their volcanic terroir but that also embody a crystalline purity.

Perhaps most exciting are the winery’s Contrada wines. Each is made from the Nerello Mascalese grape, sourced from a different vineyard site or “contrada”. These wines celebrate the diversity of Etna’s terroir. Each one is charmingly divergent, revealing subtly different profiles against a backdrop of recognisable minerality.

Much like its wines, Passopisciaro's ethos seamlessly blends tradition and innovation. It champions sustainable agriculture, minimising its environmental impact, whilst also embracing biodynamic principles, By harmoniously cultivating their land, Passopisciaro ensures the integrity of its terroir remains intact for generations to come.

Passopisciaro is more than just a winery: it’s a testament to the audacity of vision, the reward of respect for nature, and the captivating complexity of fine Italian wines. If you’re an oenophile with a predilection for history, harmony, and hedonism. A visit to Passopisciaro is not merely a suggestion, but a command.
