This full-bodied yet well-rounded varietal emanates a complex bouquet of floral notes counterbalanced with hints of dark chocolate and black pepper. The palate is endowed with a sturdy tannin structure, granting layers of dark fruit flavours complemented by a spicy undertone. Ageing in French oak barrels imparts a subtle smoky aspect, concluding in a smooth and luscious finish. A subtly expressive wine, Rust en Vrede Syrah is profoundly satisfying and a beneficial addition to any well-curated wine collection.

Tasting Notes

Fragrant blueberry, red cherry, and a hint of floral perfume open up to reveal fresh plum with layered sweet and savoury spices. The complex fruit flavours follow on the palate with fine but grippy tannins and a fresh fruity acidity. Typical spiciness is layered and complex cardamom, fennel, black pepper, nutmeg and clove, with the delicate use of oak complementing the spiciness. Refined yet powerful with a lingering fruity finish.
