Product Notes

Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame is an exquisite vintage champagne, renowned for its sophisticated taste and regal essence. Made predominantly with Pinot Noir grapes, it showcases robust full-bodied flavours, balanced by a delightful freshness. Its bouquet brims with vivid notes of white fruits, toasted hazelnuts and brioche, while the palate enjoys a harmonious blend of complexity and finesse, with a lingering, elegant finish. The elegantly designed bottle befits the grandeur of the champagne, making it a luxurious choice for celebrations. La Grande Dame is a testament to Veuve Clicquot's exceptional winemaking craft, promising an unforgettable tasting experience.

Tasting Notes

Held up to the light, La Grande Dame 2015 reveals a beautiful, golden robe that sparkles brightly. This solar vintage, while elegant and precise, offers fresh minerality with light floral notes of jasmine and acacia on the nose, which evolve into fruity notes of pear and clementine. As for the first sip, it envelops the palate with a delightfully subtle, silky texture. When it comes to food and wine pairing, La Grande Dame 2015 is the perfect match for Garden Gastronomy: a new, gastronomic experience inspired by La Grande Dame. A gastronomy straight from the garden. “Grands Crus” vegetables for Grands Crus grapes. Both assertive and sustainable in its luxury, Garden Gastronomy expresses itself through inverted dishes, where vegetables and fruits centre stage, while meat and fish are prepared like condiments.

About the Winery

Veuve Clicquot

Veuve Clicquot winery, nestled in the heart of Champagne's verdant vineyards, is an iconic reference point for finest bubbly. As part of France's prestigious Champagne region, it comes steeped in a history as sparkling as its universally acclaimed concoctions.

Founded in 1772, the Veuve Clicquot vineyards spread across an impressive 390 hectares of prime Champagne terrain. The soils, rich in chalk and limestone, are perfect for growing the Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Meunier grapes that gives Veuve Clicquot its distinctive taste. Testament to its quality the winery is now part of the Louis Vuitton Möet Hennessy luxury group.

Yet, it wasn't always smooth sailing for this entity. After the sudden demise of Francois Clicquot in 1805, his widow, Barbe-Nicole Clicquot Ponsardin, known as the Grande Dame of Champagne, took the reins. At merely 27, she was the first woman to run a Champagne house, overcoming societal norms and personal hurdles.

Under her leadership, the brand made novel strides, including the first ever vintage Champagne in 1810. She also introduced the ‘riddling table’ in 1816, a revolutionary contraption that ensured clear Champagne, thereby solidifying Veuve Clicquot as a genuine trailblazer. The signature Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label was introduced in the 1870s and it continues to be a cornerstone champagne.

Apart from its unparalleled champagne offerings, the winery is home to a labyrinth of UNESCO-listed cellars, where time-stilled whispers are held close within cool stone walls. Visitors can delve into the winery's rich history, drink in the view of sparkling slopes, and enjoy exquisite gourmet fare paired with delectable champagnes.

Veuve Clicquot is more than just an emblem of fine drink, it is a legacy, an ode, to the audacity of one extraordinary woman. It's more that just a winery it's an experience, a journey, that brings one back to the essence of endeavours that stands the test of time.
