About the Winery

Chateau Changyu

Chateau Changyu, located in the breathtakingly picturesque region of Yantai in Shandong Province, China, is the oldest and most prestigious winery in the Middle Kingdom. Founded in 1892 by Chinese entrepreneur Chang Bishi, Changyu is a true pioneer in China's burgeoning wine industry.

Spread across a sprawling 10,000 acre vineyard, the winery's remarkable French-style chateau boasts of stunning architecture and rolling vineyards reminiscent of Bordeaux. Unlike any other Chateau in the world, Changyu boasts an underground wine cellar that can store up to 1000 barrels of wine at any given time.

Focused on producing top-notch wine using select grape varieties, Chateau Changyu has consistently strived for quality and innovation. This dedication is reflected in the winery's numerous accolades, including the highly-coveted "China Wine Award". Furthermore, Changyu wines are enjoyed in over fifty countries around the globe, testament to its universal appeal and quality.

Visitors to Chateau Changyu are guided on a journey of sensory delight. Beginning with a stroll through the vast, meticulously tended vineyards, followed by a tour of the cellar and the mesmerising Chateau, — intriguing insights are shared about Changyu's wine production, as well as its rich history. Finally, a wine tasting session provides a fitting close to the tour where visitors can savour the robust flavours and subtle notes that define Changyu wines.

Unsurprisingly. Chateau Changyu's superb wines, coupled with its captivating scenery and state-of-the-art facilities, have made it a must-visit destination for wine enthusiasts and tourists alike.

Chateau Changyu isn't merely a winery, it represents a rich tapestry of history, culture, and craftsmanship. Every bottle carefully crafted by this pioneering winery is a testament to China's impressive viticulture and underscores the country's place on the world's wine map.
