Tasting Note

This wine is vibrant ruby in colour. On the nose are aromas of red fruits, pepper and black tea. The palate has an enveloping mouthfeel with hints of small red berries, cranberries and some oak-derived spice. It is medium-bodied with delicate tannins which led to a smooth and luxurious finish.

Product Notes

Proprietà Sperino Bramaterra wine is an exceptional blend from Northern Italy. This elegant vintage combines Nebbiolo, Vespolina and Croatina grapes, delivering a bold, full-bodied flavour profile. A prominent ruby-red hue is trademark of its rich, ripe intensity. Sophisticated notes of plum, mulberry, rose petals and pepper intertwine with hints of vanilla and cinnamon, owing to the oak ageing. Bramaterra wine bears a persistent, tannin-rich finish, augmenting its compelling complexity. Excellent accompanied by hearty meat dishes and complex cheeses. Proprietà Sperino provides a unique opportunity to savour a boutique vineyard's exceptional dedication to quality.

About the Winery

Proprietà Sperino

Proprieta Sperino is a strikingly charismatic winery housed in Italy's Piedmont region. Striving to produce wines that perfectly mirror their authentic lineage, the winery grandly embodies a passionate commitment to preserving the past's artisan traditions. Dating back to the 19th century, the glorious winery is as rich in its age-old practices, as it is in its splendidly sophisticated wines.

Having endured a phase of dormancy through much of the 20th century, Proprieta Sperino was realistically resurrected by Paolo De Marchi in the late 1990’s. He, along with his son Luca, painstakingly recreated the winery while meticulously nurturing the vineyards that had gone previously untended. The restoration process in itself stands as a testament to the profound respect De Marchi has for this corner of viticulture.

Situated in Lessona, Proprieta Sperino spreads felicitously across 7 hectares of land carpeted with rich, sandy soil. It’s this soil, coupled with the distinctive microclimate, that permits the vines to develop fruit of inimitable intensity. Here, you will find predominantly Nebbiolo and Vespolina grapes, these varieties deliver characteristically aromatic and elegant wines.

Boasting a quite modern cellar equipped with wooden vats, Proprieta Sperino attaches immense value to traditional winemaking processes. Each wine encompasses a perfect blend of delicacy and potency, with earthy undertones complimenting the fruity complexity. Their stand-out Lessona DOC, ``Uvaggio'', is particularly adored for its remarkable balance and aging potential.

Contributing to the tapestry of Italian winemaking, Proprieta Sperino ensures each vintage released is of unparalleled quality and character. This gem of a winery is, indeed a captivating representation of Italy’s illustrious wine heritage.
