Product Notes

Alheit Vineyards' Hemelrand Vine Garden wine personifies exquisite craftsmanship. This South African wine embodies a delightful fusion of Roussanne, Chenin Blanc, Verdelho, and Chardonnay. Its expressive aroma alternates between tropical and stone fruits, with a subtle herbal undertone. The tasting offers a complex palette with hints of peach, apricot, and crisp apple. Enhanced by refreshing acidity, it finishes with a silky, smooth texture. This wine justly represents the vineyard's dedication to employing traditional wine-making methods, deserving recognitions beyond its Western Cape origins. A beautiful accompaniment to a variety of dishes, each glass is indeed a toast to sophistication.

Tasting Notes

As always this is quite an extreme wine with lots of flavour and some richness, cut by driving acidity. The nose is so complex and interesting: stone fruit and citrus with an exotic accent. The palate is also marvellously complex.

About the Winery

Alheit Vineyards

Alheit Vineyards is a captivating winery nestled in the heart of Cape Town, South Africa's finest winemaking region. Spearheaded by Chris and Suzaan Alheit, this husband-and-wife duo have cultivated a vineyard that reflects their deep love for viticulture and appreciation for South Africa's unique terroir.

Their specialty? Old vine chenin blanc and semillon. They are committed to crafting wines that harness and express the unique qualities of these zesty grapes. The result is a range of wines that are richly textured, beautifully aromatic and full of character.

Spanning over several sites, Alheit Vineyards is more than just a single location. The vineyards are strung out across the Cape, from the ragged edges of the Paarl Mountain to the rolling hills of the Swartland, meaning each plot benefits from a distinctive climate, aspect and soil composition.

The Alheits approach each vineyard as an individual, employing a methodology that they call "place-based winemaking" This means that each wine is influenced not just by the variety of grape that goes into it. but also by the location in which those grapes are grown, leading to a unique and delightful variation across their range.

Alheit Vineyards harkens back to tradition, yet pushes the boundaries of innovation, by capturing the essence of old vines to create revelatory wines. These wines are a testament to South Africa's burgeoning reputation as a leading wine region. More than just producers, Chris and Suzaan Alheit are story tellers, with each bottle encapsulating a snapshot of South Africa’s dynamic viticulture, allowing the drinker to get a beautiful sense of place with every sip.

Just as the Alheit’s are proud of their wines, they have equal pride in sustainability efforts. The vineyards are farmed organically and every bottle comes from low-yielding, dry-farmed and painstakingly-handled vines. This is to ensure that they can continue to produce wines without causing unnecessary harm to the fragile ecosystem in which they operate. An unconventional haven for wine lovers, Alheit Vineyards offers a memorable experience for anyone with an appetite for discovery.
