Tasting Note

This red has all the fresh, perfumed characters and ripe red fruit typical of Mencia. Vibrant and clear purplish red colour. An intense bouquet, very fresh with predominant berry and floral (violet) notes. Powerful and sweet on the palate. Spacious, fresh and creamy. The tannins are ripe and rounded, and the berry, ripe fruit, and floral as well as spicy notes on the nose appear again on the palate. A wonderfully long, persistent finish.

Product Notes

Bodegas y Viñedos Merayo Mencia DO Bierzo is a noteworthy Spanish red hailing from the Bierzo region. This commendable wine showcases a vivid ruby-red hue. It brings forth a bouquet of fresh red fruits combined with subtle notes of violets, enshrouded in hints of vanilla and spice. The flavour profile is defined by juicy, ripe raspberries and cherries, splendidly balanced by hints of liquorice and pepper. The wine is medium-bodied, with delicate tannins that lend a soft, elegant finish. Matured in French oak for months, it offers a surprisingly nuanced complexity, making it a perfect addition to any wine aficionado's collection.
