Tasting Note

The 2021 Pape Clement Blanc shows the tension and cut that this vintage could bring to dry white Bordeaux. Exhibiting aromas of gooseberries, nectarine, confit citrus and pastry cream, it's medium to full-bodied, fleshy but incisive, with a textural attack and a bright, saline finish. - William Kelley, Robert Parker Wine Advocate 93-94/100

Product Notes

Château Pape Clément Pessac Léognan Blanc is a harmonious grand cru classé from Bordeaux, brimming with opulence and depth. The wine's enchanting bouquet of white blossoms, citrus, and stone fruits is complemented by delicate undertones of vanilla and oak, acquired from months of barrel ageing. On the palate, its eloquent balance of crisp acidity with ample minerality portrays the estate's gravelly terroir, rounded out by an unctuous finish. Ideally served chilled, this exceptionally crafted white blend exists as a testament to Château Pape Clément's centuries-old winemaking heritage. A consummate accompaniment to gourmet seafood or poultry dishes.

About the Winery

Château Pape Clément

Nestled in the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation in Bordeaux, the Château Pape Clément winery is a remarkable jewel of French viniculture. Dating back to the 13th century, this vineyard is one of the oldest wineries in Bordeaux and its rich history is imbued with a sense of tradition and savoir-faire that carries through to the exceptional wines they produce today.

The Château Pape Clément takes its name from Pope Clement V, who was given the estate as a gift during his tenure as the Archbishop of Bordeaux, before becoming Pope. However, it is not just the auspicious heritage that singles out this winery; it is the quality of the wines that truly puts it in a league of its own. Every bottle bearing the Château Pape Clément label reflects meticulous care and respect for the terroir, which has been carefully nurtured for over seven centuries to create an extraordinary viticulture environment.

The estate spans over 60 hectares and is blessed with an exceptional terroir that includes gravel soils warming in the sun to give a unique microclimate fostering mature, full-bodied grapes with a sublime mineral finish. Château Pape Clément chiefly produces Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, recognised for their deep colour and powerful yet refined
