About Chatto
Chatto Wines is a highly regarded boutique winery situated in Tasmania’s Huon Valley, an area celebrated for its pristine environment and exceptional potential for cool-climate viticulture. The winery was founded by Jim Chatto, one of Australia’s most respected winemakers and a Master of Wine, together with his wife Daisy. After years of experience making wine across Australia, Jim established Chatto in 2007 with a singular focus: to create Pinot Noir of the highest calibre that reflects the purity and character of Tasmania’s unique terroir.
The vineyard at Glaziers Bay, overlooking the Huon River, was carefully chosen for its ancient soils, cool maritime climate, and ideal aspect for ripening Pinot Noir. With sustainability at the core of their philosophy, the Chattos manage the vineyard with minimal intervention, ensuring the health of the land is preserved for future generations. Production is intentionally small, with meticulous attention paid to every stage of the process, from vineyard management through to gentle handling in the winery.
