About Diego Conterno
Nestled amid the lush, green hills of Monforte d'Alba, in Italy's Piedmont region, the Diego Conterno winery is a jewel in the crown of Italian viticulture. For nearly a century, it has been producing some of the most exquisite wines, each embodying the character, passion, and tradition of the Conterno family.
The origins of the winery trace back to 1920 when Giovanni Conterno, Diego’s grandfather, initiated it. The baton then passed on to his son Nino whose dedication gave the winery an unprecedented reputation. Today, under the guardianship of Diego Conterno, the winery upholds the legacy of crafting elegant wines that epitomise the richness of their origin.
Spread across 57 square kilometres; the vineyards are located in several different communes, each of which lends unique characteristics to the wines. Diego Conterno primarily cultivates Nebbiolo grape, the king of Piedmont's indigenous varietals, along with smaller quantities of Dolcetto and Barbera.
The winery upholds a philosophy of minimal intervention, following traditional winemaking processes. A meticulous attention to detail, coupled with a deep respect for nature, results in wines that are authentic, complex, and beautifully balanced. The annual output is limited, thus ensuring that each bottle retains the signature quality and consistency the winery is renowned for.
Visitors to the winery are welcomed with open arms. From exploring the age-old cellars to enjoying an intimate tasting session; a visit to Diego Conterno Winery is akin to a journey through the realm of Italian winemaking.
Diego Conterno Winery - it's more than just the destination, it represents an experience; a testament to the harmony of tradition and progress. One that stays with you long after the last sip of that splendid Nebbiolo has warmed your palate.
