Domaine Hauvette

Nestled amidst the stunning wild landscapes of the Alpilles Mountains, Domaine Hauvette represents the quintessential Provençal winery experience. Founded in the 1980s by former Parisian lawyer turned winemaker, Dominique Hauvette, the winery has steadily forged a reputation for embracing biodynamic wine production.

The vineyard, comprising about 17 hectares, displays a variety of soils, from limestone and clay to rocky terrain, each distinctive in its contribution to the wines' character and complexity. Hauvette cultivates traditional French grape varieties including Grenache, Mourvèdre and Roussanne, in addition to a smattering of Cabernet Sauvignon and frankly a stellar production of forgotten gems like Counoise and Clariette.

Domaine Hauvette's vineyards have been fully certified Biodynamic since 1998 and the wine production process pays homage to an almost forgotten heritage of authentic craftsmanship. There is an in-depth understanding of nature's rhythms here, relying heavily on manual labour and minimal intervention, which allows the wines to reflect the pure, unadulterated essence of their Provençal terroir.

Every bottle uncorked tells an unmistakably unique story. Perhaps the winery's most celebrated achievement is their red wine, Amethyste, a full-bodied blend of Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Carignan known for its impressive tannic structure and dark, mouth-filling fruit. Yet each vintage, from their subtly nuanced white wines to their powerful, campaign-strength reds, commands its own narrative. Each exudes a combination of intense yet refined flavour profiles, described by many as a refined balance between power and elegance.

The winery's dedication to maintaining an organic operation extends beyond the vineyards. In addition to providing a diverse and sustainable habitat for a variety of local wildlife, Domaine Hauvette also maintains a small herd of sheep that graze the surrounding pastures, an integral part of the estates, ongoing commitment to biodynamics
