Product Notes

Roc de Cambes Cotes de Bourg is a remarkably enticing French wine from the wine region of Côtes de Bourg. It possesses a richly expressive character marked by ripe dark fruits and notes of crushed stones, reflecting the unique terroir of its vineyard. Equally impressive is its well-structured tannic backbone, matching harmoniously with its vibrant acidity on the palate. Its luscious flavours of plum, blackberry and cherry, cradled in subtle spicy undertones, evoke a luxuriously complex taste profile. Roc de Cambes superbly combines elegance, balance and depth, making it a refined accompaniment to opulent meat-based dishes.

About the Winery

Nestled in the hillside overlooking the Dordogne river, Roc De Cambes winery is a hidden gem, tucked away in the Bourgeais region of France. Founded in 1987 by François Mitjavile, this unassuming estate has garnered a reputation for creating exceptional wines that enchant one's palate with their distinct balance of robust strength and soft elegance.

The 12-hectares vineyard is planted with 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. This unusual blend gives Roc de Cambes' wines a unique characteristic, distinguished by a depth of flavour and rich intensity rarely found in other wines of the region. The vineyard's picturesque location offers the benefit of a microclimate, allowing a longer ripening period for the grapes, adding complexity and concentration to the flavours.

The winery, built in the style of traditional Bordelaise châteaux, is where the magic happens. The grapes are harvested manually, ensuring only the finest quality. They are then fermented in wooden vats before undergoing a lengthy maturation process in French oak barrels which typically lasts 12 to 18 months; and adding a distinct oak-infused aroma to the wines.

What truly sets Roc de Cambes apart is the meticulous care that goes into each bottle of wine; from handpicking the grapes to the attention paid during the fermentation and ageing process. Each bottle is testament to the passion and dedication invested by the winemakers.

On the palate, Roc De Cambes wines seduce with their full-bodied texture, velvety tannins, and a harmonious balance between strength and finesse. Featuring a beautiful bouquet of blackcurrant, plum, and wild cherry, with hints of spice, chocolate and moist earth, these wines are mouthwateringly unforgettable.

Visitors to Roc De Cambes are invited to partake in guided tours and tastings they are a feast for the senses; evoking the magic of this splendid vineyard and its superb wines. With each sip, one is transported to the verdant hills and the charming ambience of Roc De Cambes winery.
