IGP Alpilles

Provence, France, is renowned for its stunning scenery, lavishly beautiful landscapes, and, undoubtedly, its exquisite wine. Nestled within this glorious region, the Indication Géographique Protégée (IGP) Alpilles, offers an extraordinary collection of wines that vividly capture the essence of the land from where they are sourced.

The IGP Alpilles wine region, situated in the department of Bouches-du-Rhône, is often acclaimed as one of the most alluring in Provence. Serving as a backdrop to this flourishing viticulture area are the captivating Alpilles mountains, lending the region not just its name but also an ideal combination of climate and soil for wine production.

This prestigious Indication Géographique Protégée designation was awarded in 2007 to the exceptional wines from the Alpilles area that consistently exhibit unrivalled quality, underlining the significance of the terroir on the wine’s character. It covers a diverse range of wine styles, including robust reds, aromatic whites, and refreshing rosés, all notable for their rich complexities, balance, and finesse.

Grapes harvested in the Alpilles region include classics such as Grenache, Syrah, and Cinsault for reds and rosés; and Vermentino (or Rolle as it’s known locally), Ugni Blanc (Trebbiano) and Sémillon for whites. All are cultivated under the embracing Mediterranean sun, imbuing each wine with unique fruitiness, minerality, and spiciness, redolent of the fascinating mix of wild fruits, olive trees, and aromatic herbs that envelop the region.

A taste of IGP Alpilles wine is an invitation to experience the enchantment of Provence – it echoes memories of long sunny days, soft breezes, and the rural charm that this part of France encapsulates like no other. With each sip, you are transported to the picturesque vineyards, embraced by the rugged beauty of the Alpilles mountains, indulging in a perfectly formed embodiment of the Provencal wine-making tradition.
