Tasting Note

Pale gold in the glass, offering a nose of crushed pear, green apple, honeysuckle, and lemongrass, underpinned by distinct notes of chalky minerality and citrus peel. On the palate, it is tense, precise, and mouth-watering, with vibrant acidity, crystalline fruit, and a laser-like structure. Flavours of white peach, quince, grapefruit zest, and a touch of raw almond unfold with great clarity. The finish is long, saline, and almost electric, with a persistent mineral core that echoes the limestone-rich terroir. A wine of energy, finesse, and quiet power.

Product Notes

François Chidaine Clos du Breuil wine hails from France's stunning Loire Valley region. Predominantly crafted from Chenin Blanc, this harmonious white wine is balanced, floral, and mineral-driven. It charms connoisseurs with its distinctly fruity citrus nose, featuring nuanced peach, honey and almond notes. On the palate, it prioritises freshness and complexity, creating a remarkable, lingering finish. The wine's careful cellaring promises impressive longevity, promising to enrich further over time. Chidaine's biodynamic winemaking techniques ensure quality and eco-conscious production, combining traditional methods with a mindful approach. Ideal for white meat pairings, this is an alluring wine choice.

About the Winery

François Chidaine

François Chidaine is one of the Loire Valley’s most respected vignerons, known for his deep commitment to biodynamics and his thoughtful, vineyard-first approach to winemaking. The estate is based in Montlouis-sur-Loire, just across the river from Vouvray in France’s central Loire region. Chidaine began working alongside his father in the late 1980s and formally took over the family domaine in 1989. Over the decades, he has expanded the holdings to include parcels in both Montlouis and Vouvray, as well as select plots in Touraine.
